Computational Facilities at CSAIL

• The Facilities Team (Oops) handles facilities issues, such as printing problems and conference rooms.

• Printing
  The lab recently shifted from a lprng-based printing system to a CUPS-based one. To switch over your machine, run:

  sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get install cupsys-client cupsys-bsd xpp
  	

  This will remove the lprng package, install the necessary CUPS packages and configure CUPS to point at the CUPS print server (cups.csail.mit.edu). The most complete description of the CUPS system is the CUPS Software Users Manual [local]. Learn about banner page suppression, N-up printing, and a variety of text and image options.

• Mailing Lists
  CSAIL mailing lists are handled by lists.csail.mit.edu. Creation of a new list requires a CSAIL certificate.

• Personal Web Pages
  The server for personal web pages is people.csail.mit.edu. A TIG HowTo describes how to set up your own web page.
